THERE’S nothing worse than running out of battery when you’re out and about, especially when you have messages to send and Pokémon to catch.
For most of us, our phone’s short battery lives are a constant frustration, with our favourite apps tending to suck the life out of the average device.
And it seems as if many of us are doomed to be constantly out of juice, since we’ve all been making some pretty simple mistakes when it comes to charging our phones.
However, an article on Battery university has revealed how we can get more battery for our buck, and their advice amounts to these four handy tips to supercharge your phone’s lifespan.
1. Charge in short bursts
The site claims that you shouldn’t let your phone trickle all the way down to one per cent before you boost it’s charge all the way back up to 100.
Charging any lithium Phone battery for a long time can wear it out, meaning you’re best off plugging it in for a few short bursts rather than a long stint.
2. Don’t charge overnight
For the same reason, it’s unwise to keep any Phone battery plugged in all night – since this will overwork it and make it more likely to wear out.
Long charges should always be avoided if possible, since they put the battery into a high-stress state and contribute to it becoming worn down in the long run.
3. Don’t charge to 100 per cent
Gradually topping your phone up throughout the day is much better for the battery than boosting it to 100 per cent, since this also risks stressing the battery.
Instead of filling it all the way up, try to regularly top up your phone’s battery when it needs the extra juice.
4. Take off your phone’s case
Whipping your mobile’s case off can work wonders at keeping the battery in a good state, since cases can make batteries overheat as they charge.
Charge your phone naked instead to keep your device cool and prevent the heat from wreaking havoc on your battery’s lifespan.
