Tourists heading to the United Nations might have gotten more than they paid for on wednesday when painted bodies became public art in nearby Dag Hammarskjold Plaza. The second NYC Bodypainting Day featured 75 artists, 100 nude models and hundreds of spectators. The theme for this year’s outdoor art event was “What the World Needs Now” and challenged artists to express their views on what would make the world a better place. While some artists and models planned their ideas in advance, others had a more spontaneous approach with one artist even enlisting his mom when his model didn’t show. See images of the beautiful, bare-all art show below.
