The man behind Kanye west’s  sensual and confusing Fade music video has revealed he was inspired by art, culture and lots of porn.

The filmmaker, who is just 24, told the New York Times he and the rapper worked closely on the clip and meretriciously agonized over every aspect of its aesthetic.

Eli – who has worked for Kanye since he was just 17 – told the newspaper that star Teyana Taylor’s movements, look and even the way her skin was oiled up drew from porn and cultural images. And yes also Flashdance.

‘Flashdance is just so iconic that it’s hard to move away from that,’ Eli said. ‘But the Ohio Players’ album covers were our starting point. Some people picked up on the Grace Jones boxing images by Jean-Paul Goude.’

‘I pulled a lot of references from 70s and 80s porn, just on Pornhub. That was less about the imagery and more about the texture of the skin, the oiliness.
