KIM KARDASHIAN and Chrissy Teigen want everyone to join their book club and they are starting off by reading a bestseller about going to Heaven and coming back from the dead.
Apparently reality TV stars do more than take selfies.
Best pals Kim and Chrissy have decided to share their literary passions with their millions of fans by founding a book club.
They may be social media trailblazers but they are a little behind the curve here, since Oprah Winfrey already had one years ago. Harry Potter and Beauty and the Beast star Emma Watson also launched her own feninist one, called Our Shared Self, last year.
So, what are the well-read wives of Kanye West and John Legend tackling first?
Kardashian tweeted the news to her fans: “So guys, Chrissy Teigen and Jen Atkin and I are starting a book club! I’m making them read Embraced By The Light as our first book… This book is a life changer.”
Atkin is the hair-stylist friend of the famous pair and they also tried to entice another friend, La La Anthony, to join.
New York Times bestseller Embraced By The Light by Betty J Eadie was released way back in 1992 and is apparently one of Kardashian’s all-time favourites.
Kardashian told her fans why she loved the book so much and opened the book club up to her entire global following.
She tweeted: “Everyone’s invited! It’s a story of a woman who died during surgery and came back to life. She shares her journey of what heaven is like. It’s so good.”
The book is based on Eadie’s own near-death experiences. In 1973, the author suffered the Near Death Experience (NDE) at the age of 31, while she was in hospital recovering from an operation.
Her book tells of the usual visions of a dark tunnel and a light, but also details numerous other extraordinary experiences. Eadie wrote of meeting three angelic beings, feeling the love of Jesus Christ and travelling to the furthest reaches of time and space.
The publication of Embraced By Light was followed by The Awakening Heart in 1996, The Ripple Effect in 1999 and Embraced by the Light: Prayers and Devotions for Daily Living in 2001.
