Brazilian football great Pele has married for a third time in a private ceremony.
75-year-old Pele married businesswoman Marcia Cibele Aoki, aged 50, at a ceremony on Saturday in the resort of Guaruja, near Sao Paulo.
The couple have been in a relationship for six years.
The news was released on Pele’s social media channels and Brazilian television showed parts of the ceremony.
In Pele’s words on a social media page, Aoki is his ‘definitive love’ in Portuguese.
In Brazil, Pele is tipped to light the cauldron on August 5 at the opening ceremony of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
‘They only began dating when they pair bumped into each other in a lift in a Sao Paulo apartment block that they both lived in.’
Pele was married to first wife Rosimeri Cholbi for 12 years – they share three children together. His second union to singer Assiria Nascimento lasted for 14 years and they have two children.
He is widely regarded as the greatest player of all time. In 2013 he received the FIFA Ballon d’Or Prix d’Honneur in recognition of his career and achievements as a global icon of football.
